News!

Dec 04, 2008

Thanks to the Hardy House (and especially the fine cooking skills of Katie Adams and the dessert making ability of Louise and others) for hosting our budget gathering last night. Many important things came out of that meeting:

Tim knows how to jump in with both feet . . .

Tim knows how to jump in with both feet . . .

1. Tim is now the newest member of the Leadership Team! He will begin his official term in January.

2. The decision of the 2009 budget is on hold so that the Leadership Team can incorporate important insights from last night into the final budget.

3. We have agreed to receive the funding offered by the TOF and to move forward with the creation of a Community Coffee House throwing ourselves in fully to this ongoing adventure! Pete Johnson will begin as Director in early January. In the mean time you can: pray; pray some more; send name suggestions to Pete; keep your eyes and ears open for property, partners, artsy people – anything that might help to forge this expression of worship and service. This process will continue to engage every willing soul at Southpoint.

One more thing. I meant to mention on Wednesday night that Dr. George Sears (aka Christine’s Dad, aka ‘Burlap’) has agreed to serve in a non-voting, voluntary capacity as a Coach/Mentor to the Chair of the Leadership Team for a six month period starting in January. George brings over 40 years of pastoral ministry experience as well a heart for leadership development and The Church at Southpoint. His role will be to pray for, encourage, and share with the Chair as well as help the Chair to develop skills and strategies needed to guide the Leadership Team. A full volunteer position description is available.

Also, thanks to Danny for continued work on the web site including a new kids section. The Christmas song (that Karolyn wrote for our kids) is on there right now. We hope to use that section more in the future to communicate with our parents and engage our kids.
