YES

Mary said one beautiful word: “Yes.”  With that singular, small gesture, she opened herself up to the tidewaters of the coming kingdom.  All the righteousness of the law, all the promise of the prophets, all the truth of the sermon on the mount, all the power of the Creator, condensed and flowed into her. Then on Christmas morning, God flowed out of her, literally and concretely.  She pushed and labored until her baby slipped into the world.

We say one beautiful word: “YES”.   With that singular, small gesture, we open ourselves up to the tidewaters of the coming kingdom. God’s presence fills the nooks and crannies of our being. We wait. We carry on with life. We journey. Then with sweat and tears, we labour.  God, concretely and literally, slips out of us into the world.

This is happening, right here, right now, all around us at Southpoint. The kingdom is coming, through our small whispered “Yes”. As we watch and wait this Advent, we listen for the invitation of the Spirit. We listen for our moment to say, “Yes!”

Advent at Home Booklets

Last week you put together an Advent At Home Kit which included a mason jar, envelope with instruction booklet and Yes circles.  The idea is that each week, each person in your household will take one of the circles (this week is “Yes to Hope”) and on the back write one way that you could say “Yes” to hope in the coming week.  That circle then goes into the Advent Mason Jar.  And so forth as advent goes.  The ideas in the instruction booklet are just that; ideas.  You may have your own “yeses” that come to mind.  Fill the jar with “yes” stories this advent.  Feel free to go beyond the circles and add stories of what happened in and around you when you responded with “yes” to God’s love.

If you did not get a kit we will have some available at church this Sunday – please connect with Angela.
