Week of Nov 22-28

Annunciation, by Patricia Brintle.

Advent 2020:
The Vulnerability of Incarnation

We wait and prepare for the birth of the Light of the World. In our waiting, it is true that we grow weary and apart. We fear and we lose hope. We stumble in the dark…

Yet, there is a promise whose fulfillment is independent of our ability to get things right. It is a message of light.

Of Hope. Of Love. Of Joy. Of Peace.

It is wrapped in the ragged leftover pieces of creation. It is clothed in tiny fingers and toes, the sweet smell of the nourished saviour. Immanuel, God with us.

– Nancy Devries

“I can testify that the message of Advent still holds: with hope, with grace, with love, God takes flesh and meets us when we have become most hopeless, most broken, most lost.”

– Jan Richardson

“Be not afraid!”…or as we say it today,  “Merry Christmas!”

– Scott Erickson

Advent Fundraising

Our tradition at Southpoint is to pool our resources during Advent. This year we are especially mindful of youth in Surrey and will raise funds to support Youth Unlimited. There are few different ways you’ll be invited to be involved with this as the weeks go.

Your Advent Week 1 postcard has one way. Jared Faw and Simon Neufeld will be participating in the Youth Unlimited Nite Outside. The boys will spend a night outside to raise awareness about vulnerable youth and to experience what it would be like to be on the streets on these cold winter nights. They will be linked (unfortunately, virtually) with other youth throughout the lower mainland doing this as well. More information to come.

Updating Our Directory

It’s time to update our online directory. Karin will soon be sending each regular Southpoint participant an invitation to log in and make changes. Please find a recent photo of yourself and household!

Address questions to her at this email address.
