Summer Theme: At Love’s Table

Summer at Southpoint is pared-down. We simplify our liturgy, shorten our talks, make space for story telling, and linger together outside.
This summer, as we return to the Gospel of Luke, we’ll weave our continued exploration of “what love looks like” around Luke’s recurring theme of food: tables, meals, barns, and the entire world of harvesting, preparation and anticipation they imply.
The ordinary act of growing and eating is where God longs to meet us—and where God longs for us to meet each other. In summer, we are also celebrating Ordinary Time and our ongoing life and growth in the love of God.
Let’s continue watching for ways “love draws near” this summer.
Each Sunday, during the adult content time, we’ll have a…
• a centering song
• Scripture reading followed by a short reflection on the passage
• A storyteller from our community
• Some “Table Talk”. This is a 5-min small group conversation, guided by a question similar to the ones given to the “storyteller”
• Prayers of the People using the Lord’s Prayer
• Gathering Song—children return
• Communion: We feast together at Love’s table.
Madison will begin our summer series, reflecting on Luke 10:1-11, 16-20 this Sunday. He will be both the reflection bringer and storyteller, but in the following weeks I will bring the short reflection while others from within our community are the storytellers.
I (Anne) am excited about the stories we will share together and the conversations we will hold.
Deep peace and blessing,
Anne
