Our New NETwork and Lotsa Helping Hands

Quietly, behind the scenes, a small circle of people have been designing a new way of providing care for one another here at Southpoint. This past Sunday, we introduced NETwork to you.
What is NETwork?
NETwork is the wider net that holds all of our circles of care and compassion: the Friendship Bench, the Prayer Network, our Compassionate Care fund, and the support our pastor and staff offer. Karen Peters will be the lead organizer of NETwork. This summer, we have added a new circle of care to this NETwork—Helping Hands.
What is Helping Hands?
It’s a gentle structure of support:
Helping Hands seeks to be a part of an individual’s network of support during challenging times. Helping Hands will assist individuals and families in exploring the support they already have, identify the gaps in this support, and come up with specific practical needs that we, the community of Southpoint, can fill. Helping Hands acts as a bridge, communicating these practical needs to the members of our community through the “Lotsa Helping Hands” website/App, so that folk can sign up and offer their assistance.
Our desire is to find that sweet spot of support, matching what we as a community can offer with specific needs people have.
It’s Us!
When we bring meals to those recovering from illness, or offer to drive someone to an appointment, we are helping hands.
We’ll communicate needs on Sundays and through our Southpoint News.
Deep peace and blessing,
Anne

New to Southpoint?
At Southpoint, it all begins with God’s love. Just as a plant grows, it receives sunshine, so we grow as we receive God’s love. At Southpoint, we are growing in our capacity to love God, ourselves, one another, and Creation.
We seek to be a community of grace that is intentional yet organic, spacious yet authentic, grace-filled yet accountable. * We are fully welcoming. *
We encourage relationships rather than run programs, yet we recognize the importance of intentionality and structure as we nurture life together.
As a community, we seek to put our love in action. We value helping out on Sunday mornings, sharing food, and showing up in hard times. We keep our church life simple so folk have time to build relationships with family, friends, and neighbours. We encourage folk to serve in tangible ways within the wider community. We rent space rather than own a building, allowing us to do more with less, supporting missions at home and abroad.
