Epiphany 2022: Cracks of Light

The rooms of love, 1984-1987
Benard Faucon
Epiphany invites us to live with our eyes wide open, searching like the wise men for the new manifestation of God breaking into our world, like cracks of light shining in the darkness.
As we approach the scripture texts of the lectionary this season, we are searching for these cracks of light. How will these scriptures manifest God to us? What will we see when we search these scriptures for clues as to how God’s activity manifests in our world?
Epiphany evokes curiosity, exploration, discovery. What we discover changes us; we can no longer continue along the same paths—like the wise men, our feet find a new way home.
Welcome to the journey!
Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.
—Leonard Cohen
Because of the number of Southpoint households experiencing or exposed to covid over the holidays, we are going to meet over zoom again this week. Our hope is a return to in-person worship the following week (Jan 16). However, please stay in touch— and be in communication with Anne or Karin if your family is affected and needs support or assistance.

New to Southpoint?
At Southpoint, it all begins with God’s love. Just as a plant grows, it receives sunshine, so we grow as we receive God’s love. At Southpoint, we are growing in our capacity to love God, ourselves, one another, and Creation.
We seek to be a community of grace that is intentional yet organic, spacious yet authentic, grace-filled yet accountable. * We are fully welcoming. *
We encourage relationships rather than run programs, yet we recognize the importance of intentionality and structure as we nurture life together.
As a community, we seek to put our love in action. We value helping out on Sunday mornings, sharing food, and showing up in hard times. We keep our church life simple so folk have time to build relationships with family, friends, and neighbours. We encourage folk to serve in tangible ways within the wider community. We rent space rather than own a building, allowing us to do more with less, supporting missions at home and abroad.
