James and Ashafa @ Southpoint

On Sunday, January 13th, The Church at Southpoint welcomes Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye to our morning worship gathering. These are the real life protagonists of the movie, The Imam and the Pastor, which tells the remarkable story of their transition from leading opposing, armed militias to working together for peace and reconciliation between their respective communities.

Initiatives of Change has partnered with the main hosting organization, Link International Ministries, and other partners to bring the two men to British Columbia.

After the service, Imam Ashafa and Pastor James will be joining us for lunch at the Hardy house (map). All are welcome!

After Sunday, Imam Ashafa and Pastor James will be making several stops in BC including Semiahmoo House Society on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30pm. Our intention is to invite a larger audience from the South Surrey area to engage in this peace building conversation through an abbreviated showing of the film followed by a presentation from our guests and a time for dialogue. This forum will be presented by The Church at Southpoint and Initiatives of Change as a gift to our community.

You can help by:

  1. Praying that the message of our guests would be well received.
  2. Attending the event, even if you have already seen the film.
  3. Spreading the word through personal invitations.

Thank you for putting this marvelous event together. I was inspired by the words of the imam and the pastor and appreciate the way Southpoint has a global perspective on the issue of religion.
