Souhtpoint News – Week of June 9th, 2019
Summer’s coming:)
We’ve just moved through Easter Season and have one more Sunday, Pentecost, before we head into the long stretch of Ordinary Time. The school is drawing to a close, seniors are preparing to graduate, gardens are growing, SCA shares are beginning, and summer plans are solidifying. What a buzz of activity!! Along with that, we are all heading outside to enjoy the sunshine after a long winter. Its been a gorgeous spring, and there’s more beauty around the corner as we celebrate the fruitfulness of life in the Spirit and the abundance of summer.
Our church survey revealed that our Sunday gatherings really do hold space for us as a community, nourishing our connections with God, one another and providing us some quiet reflection to get in touch with what’s going on inside. As you look forward to a new month and a new season of the church here, here’s what’s ahead this month at Southpoint on Sundays.
Sundays in June:
June 9 – Pentecost Sunday
June 16 – Father’s Day. “A Love Affair with Creation” – An interview with Ryan and Angela
June 23 – Speaker: Daniel Whitehead from Sanctuary Mental Health Sanctuary.
June 30th – ALL OUT. This is the weekend of our church camping trip. Everyone is invited to join us on the mountain for worship and camaraderie.
Sunday Morning Saplings Group
June 16 – Pizza with Anne
Anne will go down and be with the Saplings group on June 16th. She’d love to invite ages 13-18 to join her to talk about what its like to be a young person at Southpoint. “What do you like about it? What don’t you? How could we do a better job?” She’d love to hear your thoughts!
Our Next ALL OUT…
You are invited to join the campers up at Mt. Seymour Provincial Park, group campsite on Sunday June 30. We’ll have a time of singing and share communion around 10:30 and then potluck lunch. Bring weiners or something to grill and then something to share (salad/chips/dessert’)
Summer 2019 Calendar:
June 9th: PENTECOST SUNDAY
June 16: Father’s Day. “A Love Affair with Creation” – An interview with Ryan and Angela
June 23: Speaker: Daniel Whitehead from Sanctuary Mental Health Sanctuary.
June 30th: ALL OUT. This is the weekend of our church camping trip. Everyone is invited to join us on the mountain for worship and camaraderie.
Anne’s Time Away:
Craig, Johanna and I will be leaving on June 24th for Cambridge, England for a conference and visits with old friends. We will be joining Adam and Jaro, Johanna’s lovely fellow, in the Czech Republic to meet Jaro’s extended family. (Jaro and Adam will be finishing up their own crazy adventure, but that’s another story. Just pray for their safety!) Jaro’s grandma lives in a rural village and loves to wander in the woods picking mushrooms. I can’t wait to meet her:) Jaro’s dad is lending us a car and providing us with a place to stay. We are excited about this adventure, but so sad that the conference and trip coincide with the church camping trip. A huge thanks to the leadership team for releasing me to go and to Angela for doing such a great job organizing the trip. We’ll be back July 19th, ready to dive back into life.
