The Posture of Christmas
This month we have explored the postures of Advent. During Week 1, we stood up, lifting our heads in a posture of trust, even though the world is shrouded in darkness. During Week 2, we raised our hands to receive the robe of righteousness and a crown of life, gifts of mercy from our God who calls us from death to life. During Week 3, we raised our hands still higher over our heads and began to sing our praises to the God who brings salvation. During Week 4, we placed our hands our bellies, feeling for that inner leap of joy at the presence of the hidden Christ already within us. Now, as the presence of Christ slips, humbly and meekly into the world, we will take on the posture of Christmas. We will kneel in worship.
Halleluiah to this Prince of Peace, the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
