What Resurrection Looks Like
We have been leaning into the resurrection this Easter season and asking ourselves “What resurrection looks like”. We’ve looked at resurrection in creation, our vocation, our connections with others and with God. We’ve asked you to fill out a survey about your longings and desires for engagement at Southpoint. In reading through the surveys I hear people’s desire for deeper connection in places where they are lonely, wandering, and numb. I hear the reality of lives that are often full to the brim. We will continue to listen to each other and step towards deeper connection with God, with Creation and with each other. We live in expectancy.
“The church must always be working toward a fuller understanding of what God is doing, and listening for God to show up in astonishing ways. But the movement of God’s spirit is not random. The Spirit always pushes the church into greater practice of God’s love for all people of the world.”
– Brian Peterson
What to expect this Sunday
This Sunday is an ALL IN Sunday. We will gather together for our regular worship service at 10:00 and then instead of breaking up into kids and adult groups you will be invited to choose one of 7 focus groups to be a part of for 20 minutes. We will then gather back together to share communion. (this will include article discussion, baking communion flat bread, weeding around the church, contemplative prayer and more). One of the groups will be sharing our own stories of what resurrection looks like, or where we are longing for resurrection.
After communion the kids will be invited to go play on the playground and the adults will have 20 minutes together for our regular “family meetings” that precede our potlucks. This will be a time to give you an update on the conference in High River, update you on our financial picture and provide a brief summary of the surveys.
At around 11:45 we will gather for a potluck together downstairs (and if it’s nice, sprawling outside!)
Peace in your week,
Angela
