The Friendship Bench:

Cultivating Conversations around What Matters

We don’t have all that much time together as a community. On Sunday mornings, we gather right as our service begins. We sing, pray, and listen together.  We converse after church. Then we go our separate ways.  For some of us, this is the extent of our connection with Southpoint.

How can we best curate our space together in ways that will deepen our engagement with God, our inner being, one another, and the world? This question has been tugging at my heart for months. Angela and I have actively explored this question together throughout the summer.

This autumn, as we resume our regular rhythms of life, we invite you to  linger with us over this question, dreaming, praying, and imagining what shape our space might take.

We invite you into conversation:
space for rich, hearty soul food served up and shared together.

We invite you into silence:
space to breathe and remember who you are.

We invite you into worship:
space to remember together whose we are.

We invite you into compassionate action:
Responding together to what is wounding our world.

We look forward to being together this Sunday at the Friendship Bench.

Volunteer Opportunities

Please consider the following ways you could be involved in the lives of our children and youth:

– teach our younger Saplings class 2 times this Fall (grades 1-4)

– teach our older Saplings class 2 times this Fall (grades 5-8)

– be a helper in our Sprouts class (age 3-6)

– invite the grades 5-8 kids over for a games night or our for mini golf once this Fall

At Southpoint we are a low programmatic but we really value relationship.  This doesn’t happen without intentionality.  Please consider investing in one way with our youth and children this Fall.

Please talk to Angela (angneufeld@gmail.com) if any of these areas seem do-able for you.

Thank you.

Ride for Refuge

We need your help! Tim Emanuels & I have signed up to ride 50km to help vulnerable youth–and have set a crazy fundraising goal of $2500! We’d love for you to walk or ride with us–or give to a great cause!

The ride is Saturday, October 5 and you can sign up to ride/walk (or donate) right here: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant /TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?teamID=874853&langPref=en-CA

Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
