You Are Worthy

Luke 13: 1-9

Ideas are like seeds. They get planted in the soil of our minds. There they lie in the dark, hidden inside of us. If an idea is nourished, it grows. It takes up more and more space inside of us, and over time it begins to shape how we see things. Ourselves. Other people. The world.

If it gets big enough, the idea pushes its way out into the open. It begins to shape our actions. Our choices. The way we respond.

Ideas spread from one mind to the next, and these ideas shape communities, cultures, and alter lives.

This week, we are planting an idea in the soil of our community’s mind: You are worthy.

You are worthy. No matter how fruitful and productive you are, or not. No matter if you feel like you are in the wrong place, or not. No matter if you have someone to nourish you, or not. No matter if you are thriving in school, or not. No matter if you have a home, or not.

You are worthy.

You deserve to be alive. To be loved. To take up space. You do not have to earn your worth or prove your worth.

It’s safe for you to risk and try something new. It’s safe for you to step away from the human grind and rest.

Let this idea fill your mind to the brim. Your worth is unconditional, independent of how you perform, achieve, or produce. Your worth comes from being created by God, loved by God, cared for by God.

Any idea to the contrary is not of God. Repent of it. Turn away from that old seed and turn towards this new seed. Let it grow in your mind. Let it shape the way you see yourself. The way you see others. The way you show up in the world.

New to Southpoint?

At Southpoint, it all begins with God’s love. Just as a plant grows, it receives sunshine, so we grow as we receive God’s love. At Southpoint, we are growing in our capacity to love God, ourselves, one another, and creation.

We seek to be a community of grace that is intentional yet organic, spacious yet authentic, grace-filled yet accountable. * We are fully welcoming. *

We encourage relationships rather than run programs, yet we recognize the importance of intentionality and structure as we nurture life together.

As a community, we seek to put our love in action. We value helping out on Sunday mornings, sharing food, and showing up in hard times. We keep our church life simple so folk have time to build relationships with family, friends, and neighbours. We encourage folk to serve in tangible ways within the wider community. We rent space rather than own a building, allowing us to do more with less, supporting missions at home and abroad.
